LSG Hospitality Signal Brief — 24 September 2026

A source-first daily scan of the hotel and travel signals that matter for operators, commercial teams and hospitality investors. LSG prioritizes primary data, separates facts from interpretation, and adds one practical commercial implication to every signal.

1. Italy: fewer arrivals, more nights

Italy recorded just under 47 million arrivals in Q2 2026, down 0.8% year over year, while total guest nights rose 3.9% to almost 148 million. International guests accounted for 61.6% of nights. Extra-hotel accommodation grew faster than hotels: +5.6% in nights versus +2.4% for hotels.

LSG signal: volume alone is an incomplete demand indicator. Longer stays and foreign demand are supporting total nights even when arrivals soften. For hotels, the faster growth of extra-hotel supply makes positioning and channel mix more important.

2. Europe: hotel growth is becoming more rate-led

STR and Tourism Economics forecast RevPAR growth of 1.2% across 31 European forecast markets in 2026, driven mainly by ADR growth. Their latest Q3 assumptions show aggregated occupancy growth becoming harder to achieve, with 2027 occupancy expected to be broadly flat.

LSG signal: when occupancy expansion is limited, commercial performance depends more on pricing power, segmentation, demand timing and conversion quality than on simply adding room nights.

3. Canada: pricing continues to drive performance

Canada posted an eighth consecutive month of year-over-year ADR and RevPAR growth in August 2026. Occupancy reached 80.9% (+0.2%), ADR CAD267.48 (+6.7%) and RevPAR CAD216.31 (+6.9%).

LSG signal: mature demand markets can still expand hotel revenue through rate even when occupancy barely moves. The commercial question becomes where guests will accept price and what events, segments or booking windows support it.

4. Paris: events remain a powerful compression engine

Paris hotels posted 75.0% occupancy in August 2026, with ADR up 8.7% to EUR342.97 and RevPAR up 11.7% to EUR257.19. CoStar linked the strongest nights to Rock en Seine, with occupancy and RevPAR peaking around the event.

LSG signal: event calendars are not only a revenue-management input. They should shape paid media, packages, outbound sales and minimum-stay logic weeks before demand compresses.

5. Accor: Asia growth is increasingly partnership-led

Accor is pursuing different expansion models across Asia, including partnerships, franchising and conversions, with particularly ambitious growth plans in China and continued expansion activity in India and Vietnam.

LSG signal: large groups are increasingly scaling through flexible asset-light models rather than one uniform development formula. Independent operators should watch the same shift in distribution, brand affiliation and conversion economics.
